Custom templates allow you to specify a custom page on a per category or per product basis. For example, normal products could have a single image on the left and product description on the right, but you have some products with a larger image and would like to display the product description under that; custom templates are an easy way to accomplish that.
Normally products use default_product.tpl and categories use default_category.tpl but you can override this when you create a new product or category.
- On Categories - When creating or modifying a category select the template you want to use from the Category Template dropdown (the template must already exist).
- On Products - When creating or modifying a product expand the Product Display field and then expand the next Product Display field and then select the template you want to use from Product Template dropdown (the template must already exist).
