All products in eCMS can have images assigned to them. Images are loaded in image sets, which can be thought of as one image in multiple sizes. Depending on the design there may be any number of thumbnail, large, and pop-up images. You can view or modify your product images by going to Inventory >> All Products (or Product Search) >> "Product Name" >> Product Display >> Images. Images can be loaded from your local computer or externally by supplying the URL in the link field. If you have uploaded multiple image sets you can rank them; the set with the rank of 1 will be displayed as the primary image set.

See screenshot below for more detail.

  • Thumbnail Image - Depending on the design these are usually smaller images (150 x 150) displayed on the category page.
  • Large Image - Depending on the design this is usually the main image shown for a product on the product page. Large images are usually around 350 pixels by 350 pixels.
  • Pop-up Images - Depending on the design a product may have a larger more detailed version of the product viewable in a pop-up window. Pop-ups are usually around 500 pixels.

Common Product Image Questions:

  • Q: How many images can a product have?
  • A: A product can have any number of images though your design might not display them. The primary image set will always be the one with the rank of 1.
  • Q: Can I use the same image for the thumbnail, large, and pop-up?
  • A: This is not recommended as the image will either have to be stretched or squished to fit in your design.
  • Q: Do all of the images have to be of the same size?
  • A: It's best that you use consistent sizes on all of your images so you do not interfere with the design of your site. For example if your design calls for the main product image(large) to be 350 x 300 then an image with the dimensions of 500 x 500 could push other elements off your page and distort your design.
  • Q: What formats can you use?
  • A: We support the standard image formats: .gif, .jpg, .png.
  • Q: I saw really cool image feature on another site, will that work on eCMS?
  • A: Chances are we can make it happen! Talk you to your account manager and they can tell you if it would involve custom work or not.
