Overview

CMS reporting is creating using a program called Crystal Reports 9. Below is some more detailed information for those looking to find out more about our reports or for those interested in creating there own.

Information on CMS Crystal Reports

CMS includes a detailed manual that covers a wide variety of pre built Crystal Reports. This Manuel can be accessed in CMS by going to Help > CMS Manuals > CMS Reports Guide. For more information on CMS reporting I recommend reading through this document. On top of that at the end of this Manuel we detail the various tables in CMS itself. This information is invaluable if you are starting to create your own reports.

What is needed to create your own Crystal Report

To create a report that will run in CMS via Reports > Use Custom, you will need a copy of Crystal Reports 9: Professional Edition. The reason you want the Professional Edition is due to the fact it will let you create an ODBC connection directly with our Sybase database. This function is critical to get good reporting and is a feature not present in the standard edition.

That said Crystal Reports 9 is also an older version of Crystal at this point. It can be very difficult to find. If you do look into getting a new edition of Crystal, be aware you will still be able create your own reports but any reports you create or modify may not work when run through CMS (you can still run them in Crystal.)
