About

Shipping groups are used to adjust or change the shipping method available to a customer based on his/her geographical location, the products the customers has ordered, and even the date and time the order is placed. Common examples for when you might us a shipping group are:

  • You sell chocolate bars and experience has shown that any time you ship your chocolates to the south and southwest during the warmer months the bars melt. You can setup shipping groups so that anytime someone purchases your chocolates in the qualifying states during that period they are forced to use overnight shipping.
  • You sell a handblown glass toupee holder that is very fragile. You can setup a group to require this item be shipped FedEx while the other items in the cart can still be shipped UPS.
